Activities begin at 6 p.m. with a raffle, social hour and cash bar. The dinner and program begin at 7 p.m., and the event will conclude at 9 p.m. An evening highlight is the presentation of four prestigious business excellence awards. Retiring, continuing and incoming directors will be recognized. Kim Luna Snyder will be honored for her leadership as the 2008-09 chairman of the board and Donna Finley will be installed as the chairman for 2008-09. “The theme for the Chamber 2007-2008 year is ‘Aspire to Inspire’ meaning ‘seek to influence,’” Snyder said. “The Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce seeks to promote business and provide leadership in Nacogdoches County. Our goal is to inspire others in our workplace, the business community, the Chamber, and in Nacogdoches County. Also, we recognize that we must ‘give to receive’ so individually, if we give of our time, our talents, and our hard work, then we will receive collectively as a community.” Short video presentations will showcase the Chamber’s 2007-08 fiscal year, community involvement and background for each awardee. The Chamber Board of Directors selected Francis E. “Ab” Abernethy as Citizen of the Year. The Business Excellence award recipients are: Elliott Electric Supply, Inc., Large Business of the Year; Cotton Patch Café, Medium Business of the Year; and Shannons Pools, Small Business of the Year. The Chamber directors and officers for 2008-09 will be installed in a brief ceremony. Retiring Chamber directors are Frank Ashcroft, Drew Knowles, Ann Scott, Vincent Smith and Beverly Rice. Continuing Chamber directors are Corey Ashley, Ruben Carmona, Robert Crow, Jan Dawley, Karla DeLuca, Jeb Jones, Aron Kulhavy, Michael Martin, Ed Pool, Randy Robinson, Violet Rogers, Will Scott, Lee Smith, Michelle Smith and Angela Wiederhold. Members are invited to attend the banquet and network with other businesses and view the video presentation wrapping up another successful Chamber year,” Snyder said. “The announcements of the Citizen of the Year and Small, Medium and Large Businesses of the year are special highlights of the evening. It is a great evening and all are welcome to attend.” Tickets are $30 and reserved tables are available.
