NACOGDOCHES ISD FEATURED IN NATIONAL PUBLICATION
OCTOBER 31, 2012 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NACOGDOCHES — Nacogdoches Independent School District has been featured in the national publication, Education Executive Magazine.
In a piece written by Alan Dorich, the article focuses on the innovative ways NISD makes education its No. 1 priority.
“After all these years, the district has not rested on its laurels, but instead stayed innovative in its teaching methods,” the article states.
Among the areas addressed were the use of iPads as learning tools. NISD distributed iPads to all elementary teachers at its comprehensive elementary schools and to its secondary CTE teachers. The district also is in the developmental stage of making iPads available to all teachers.
Thee article also noted the addition of the Early College High School Program, which allows students to begin taking college courses in ninth grade; and the magnet schools where students can blend their regular school days with more in depth studies of the arts, science and technology or dual languages.
Education Executive interviewed both NISD Superintendent Dr. Fred Hayes and Director of Technology Leslie Garakani for the story.
