The founder of a national college readiness movement brings his contagious enthusiasm for education to Nacogdoches ISD teachers and staff on Friday, Aug. 16.

Damen Lopez, creator of the No Excuses University Network, has inspired teachers in NISD and across the nation to be advocates for academic success and college readiness for students of all socio-economic backgrounds.

Lopez will speak from 8 to noon Friday at Brooks-Quinn-Jones Elementary School at the invitation of BQJ principal Jonathon Kegler.  Then, he will speak to another group of NISD teachers from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Lopez received his bachelor’s of art and master’s of art degrees from Point Loma Nazarene University.  He is the youngest educator to earn the University of San Diego Remarkable leader in Education Award. His book No Excuses University describes “Six Exceptional Systems” that promote academic results fro all students under the umbrella of college readiness.
