More than $600 in cash and prizes were awarded to the winners of the Paul Kendrick Memorial 42 Tournament at the 21st annual Texas Blueberry Festival presented by Brookshire Brothers.

“The tournament is nationally and internationally sanctioned, and it brings many out of town players to Nacogdoches,” said Patricia Penney, event organizer. “The competitors are fierce, so it was really exciting to see some of our local players win the big prizes this year.

“I thank our sponsors Encompass Home Health for supplying the refreshments and trophies and Nacogdoches County Master Gardeners for their volunteers that worked through the day,” Penney said.

The winners for Friday's warm up tournament are: first place, Patti Penney and Betty Jaris; second place, Jim Cain and Jim McMimm; third place, Charles Putegnat and Shelia Rutherford. Saturday's tournament winners are: first place, John Perkins and Bobby Overstreet; second place, Ginger Melton and Cindy Lunsford; third place, Amy Ferell and Renee Wernert; fourth place, Layce Comer and Jim McMimm; fifth place, Sandi and Harry Burkett.
