In 2018, the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce was recognized by the US Chamber of Commerce as a 4-star accredited chamber of commerce.
The interesting thing about Chambers of Commerce is how much one has in common with another, and how different they can be as well. Local Chambers concentrate on development and promotion of their communities. Some are directly involved in economic development and/or tourism, others are not. Many have an interest in government affairs, but it is not their main focus.
All local Chambers of Commerce are independent organizations.
State and federal Chambers play their own unique role.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is not the "headquarters" Chamber for all the other Chambers in America. But it does play a role in business advocacy, especially on the federal level. The Texas Association of Business, which is the surviving entity of a merger with the Texas Chamber of Commerce, plays a similar role at the state level. Neither of these organizations dictate to the local Chambers, but they do communicate and articulate positions that may be of interest to local business people and other civic leaders.
We're adding Chamber links on an ongoing basis here so you can access them more easily.
