The Lumberjack Quidditch team will host a fundraising event, called Kidditch, to teach kids around the community the growing sport of quidditch on Oct. 10 from noon to two p.m. at Pecan Acres Park.
According to usquidditch.org, quidditch is a co-ed contact sport with a unique mix of elements from rugby, dodge ball, and tag. A quidditch team is made up of seven athletes who play with brooms between their legs at all times. While the game can appear chaotic to the casual observer, once familiar with the basic rules, quidditch is an exciting sport to watch and even more exciting to play.
Though in the actual game of quidditch, the game is quite violent, the kids that attend the event will be taught the modified version, which does not include tackling.
To learn how to play, pay $5 per child, or $15 for four children. All proceeds will go to the team for traveling and tournament expences.
Brooms and bottles of water will be provided for the kids.
The club asks that your child wear comfortable running shoes.
