Nacogdoches ISD and the Nacogdoches Chamber of Commerce held the official ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of the newly completed Agricultural Science Center on Wednesday, Oct 28.
The event was attended by school board members, Steve Green and Rev. James Irvin, as well as local community members who have supported the Nacogdoches ISD FFA program in the past.
Jeannie Summers, Career and Technical Education Director for Nacogdoches ISD, thanked all of those who helped this project come full circle for the students. Local businesses that helped with thevision of the property were recognized along wih the Nac ISD Ag teaches and their students.
Items built by the FFA Team were proudly on display. The team won 2nd place Sweepstake at this year’s Piney Woods Fair. There were even a few four legged projects for the public to look at and askquestions from the FFA students. Each student had an opportunity to explain their project with the guests at the event.
Dr. Fred Hayes said “I am excited that our students now have a safe place to come and raise theiranimals”. Steve Green, Nac ISD School Board Vice President commented “I wish that every child has an opportunity to take an agriculture class during their time at Nac ISD. It will prove to be valuable to them for their entire life”.
The ceremony ended with the official ribbon cutting.
