On Saturday, December 12, children of Nacogdoches were treated to a free event – Santa’s Workshop. Over 350 children attended the event with their parents. There were middle school and high school student organizations that offered crafts and games for the children.
The choir from Brooks Quinn Jones sang and hot chocolate and cookies were served. Even the Santa-Cow from Chick-Fil-A was there.
Each child had an opportunity to visit with Santa and have a free photo taken with him. Santa gave each child an age appropriate book to take home.
This year each child was given a map of the event. Each craft or game had a “stamp” and if the child received at least 5 stamps on his map, he received a free ticket to the play on Saturday afternoon “Miss Nelson is Missing”, being performed by the NHS Theater group. The students from the play were “in character” and interacted with the children who were attending the event.
It was a fun morning for all who attended.
