Old-Fashioned Sweet Tooth Sugarcane Festival Cancelled
Posted 12/30/2015

The City of Nacogdoches Historic Sites Department typically hosts an annual Old-Fashioned Sweet Tooth Sugarcane Event on the second Saturday in January at the Durst-Taylor Historic House & Gardens. The 2016 event, unfortunately, will not take place.

This event, a favorite for many, is completely dependent on the sugarcane crop grown throughout the year at the Durst-Taylor Historic House & Gardens. Just like in the 1840's, crops sometimes fail, the weather doesn't cooperate and plans have to change. The small amount of cane that we were able to harvest this year will be used as seed cane and will yield a larger crop of sugarcane for our 2017 sugarcane event.

The Durst-Taylor Historic House & Gardens is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Guided tours of the property are always free of charge and we hope that everyone will come to the Old-Fashioned Sweet Tooth Sugarcane Event in 2017!
