A simple trick for hiring the best: hire student leaders
The Nacogdoches County Chamber Fourth Friday Luncheon held April 22 featured guest speaker Dr. Adam Peck, Assistant Vice President and Dean of Student Affairs, SFASU. Dr. Peck explained hos employers can connect with SFA student leaders for possible employment.
"Today’s employers demand students with not only the technical expertise to excel in their first jobs, but with the interpersonal qualities that can be so hard to teach. These are often referred to as 'soft skills'” Peck said. "They include such qualities as the ability to communicate, function as a member of a team and solve problems independently. Research conducted at SFA shows that student leaders tend to develop these skills more fully than their peers who are not involved."
Dr. Peck also information from his forthcoming book on this topic.
