Learn How to Start Composting at the Public Library

The Judy B. McDonald Public Library invites the community to attend How to Start Composting on Saturday, June 18th at 2:30 p.m.  Local farmers will explore the pros and cons of several different composting methods including the three bin system, the Berkeley method, vermiculture, and lasagna gardening. The workshop will be held simultaneously with Lego Club, so kids can have fun while their parents learn.

Makerspace: Hackathon & Squishy Circuits at the Public Library

  The Judy B. McDonald Public Library invites the community to two Makerspace programs for ages 10 and up.  Makerspace: Hackathon will be on Saturday, June 18th at noon.  The event will celebrate the National Day of Making with an afternoon of taking things apart to learn how they work and putting them together to make something new.   Makerspace: Makey Makey & Squishy Circuits will be held on Monday, June 20th at 5:30 p.m. and will build on programming knowledge gleaned from recent workshops to create simple circuits made of moldable conductive dough and a Makey Makey invention kit.  However, no experience is required to attend these events.

Incredible Insects! at the Public Library

  The Judy B. McDonald Public Library invites people of all ages to attend an exciting and educational program on insects on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at 10:00 a.m.  Join us as we learn about the world’s most prolific and successful creatures and the important role they play in nature.  Dr. Bug, a well known insect expert from Stephen F. Austin State University, will present this fascinating program at the Judy B. McDonald Public Library located at 1112 North Street in Nacogdoches.

This event is a part of the public library’s summer reading program. People of all ages can earn a chance to win prizes by reading books and attending library programs.  Reading logs can be picked up at the library. More information about the summer reading program is available at the library, on the library’s website at www.ci.nacogdoches.tx.us/library or at www.facebook.com/judybmcdonaldpubliclibrary.  No reservations are necessary to attend this event. This event is free to the public.
