Nacogdoches local Kroger Grocery Store donated over 200 school supply kits to Nacogdoches ISD for the 2016-2017 school year.
School supply kits were distributed throughout the campuses. Supplies included: notebooks, filler paper, crayons and other writing utensils for students in need.
Interim Superintendent Sandra Dowdy accepted the large donation on August 22 from Kroger managers, Randy Fassino and David Rose. The Public Relations Department distributed the school supplies during the beginning of September.
Campuses that received kits:
• Emeline Carpenter Elementary School
• Fredonia Elementary
• Thomas J. Rusk Academy of Fine Arts
• Nettie Marshall Academy of Dual Language
"We appreciate our community partners and the continued support of our educational needs, "Dowdy said. "Our schools will greatly appreciate the supplies that are being donated."
Kroger collected donations from the community during checkout. Customers were asked if they would like to help a student go back to school by donating $1or by purchasing the entire kit.
