Nacogdoches High School student council presents SOCKTOBER.
SOCKTOBER provides the opportunity for members of the community to collect new socks to donate to homeless shelters. NHS faculty, staff and students are collecting socks that will be donated to Godtel Ministries and the Women's Shelter.
Central High School is also collecting for SOCKTOBER.
Monday, October 31 is the last day NHS will collect socks and/or money for socks. As of October 31 at 9 a.m., NHS juniors gathered 90 pairs, freshmen collected 151 pairs, sophomores accumulated 88 pairs and seniors accrued 209 pairs.
NHS faculty and staff collected 165 pairs. NHS Student Council collected 88 pairs resulting in a total of 890 pairs of socks ready for donation.
The freshman, sophomore, junior and senior classes at NHS are in competition with each other for which class can bring the most socks. The winner will be announced on Thursday, November 3, 2016.
