NACOGDOCHES, February 1, 2017 - The Nacogdoches ISD Board of Trustees is searching for an educational leader to serve as its Superintendent of Schools. The community of Nacogdoches is nestled in the Pineywoods of East Texas on HWY 59 in Nacogdoches County, approximately 2.5 hours north of Houston. Serving approximately 6500 students, Nacogdoches has six elementary schools, two middle schools, one high school, one alternative high school and one disciplinary alternative education campus. Student demographics include 28.9% African American students, 45% Hispanic students, and 21.7% White students. Nacogdoches ISD has an Economically Disadvantaged population of over 80% [or approximately 5,138 students]. The District employs 972 staff members, of which 435 are teachers.
