1. State of the District
March is Social Work Month! Social workers across the country help students every day! Read some thoughtful comments from students, parents, teachers, administrators and community members about how a school social worker has impacted their lives. They can be found on a wall at the District Support Center. We hope you enjoyed your time off for spring break! Next week, our students will be taking our state's standardized test known as the STAAR. We know how smart our students are and how hard they have been working to do their best. NISD's Pre-K and Kindergarten Round Up will be Saturday, April 8th. Registration will be held on each elementary campus. Transportation information will be available during registration. We will have our 20th Annual Teacher Job Fair this Saturday, March 25th at McMichael Middle School from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The 2017-2018 Student Transfer Information is updated on the district website under Parents & Students. The district calendar for the 2017-2018 school year and the 2017-2018 school hours have been posted on the district website as well under Parent Resources. You can find direct links to these updates on the homepage in the important announcements.
2. Student/ Teacher Achievement
Congratulations to Mackey Johnson who won First in class at area TSA competition. State bound! NHS Men's Soccer will play College Station High School in the first round of playoffs. The game will start at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 24, at Huntsville High School.
Congratulations Parker Elliott, he signed to swim with Loyola University in New Orleans and Valentin Scognamillo, he committed to swim for Hamilton College in Clinton, New York. Good luck continuing to swim after high school. We are so proud of you both!
3. Campus/ Personnel Updates
Nacogdoches Middle Schools and High School Choir Pre-UIL Concert is on Tuesday, March 28th at 7 p.m. in the NHS Auditorium.
4. Community Updates
Join NISD for the annual Texas Reads One Book kick off! NISD is teaming up with different community businesses and organizations to read the first chapter of this year's book - "The Lemonade Wars" by Jacqueline Davies. Sign up to volunteer to read to third grade students with someone from our Public Relations Department.
