The Nacogdoches County Agriculture Committee announced that Borders Poultry Supply, located in Center and Nacogdoches, Texas, is the 2017 recipient of the Agribusiness of the Year Award, sponsored by First Bank & Trust East Texas.
The Award will be presented at the 16th Annual Nacogdoches County Agricultural Banquet on April 10th at 6:00 p.m. at the Nacogdoches County Exposition and Civic Center and is sponsored by TFP Nutrition.
Today, Borders Poultry Supply is owned and managed by Fred and Linda Borders. Mr. and Mrs. Borders have also raised poultry for integrators on their personal farms since 1971. They have gained irreplaceable knowledge about poultry farming and the need for competitive pricing through this hands-on experience.
Fred and Linda Borders opened Borders Poultry Supply in 1989 in Center. This outstanding family-owned business experienced great success under the Borders strong business principles centered on providing outstanding customer value and the importance of excellent service.
In December 2000, Borders Poultry Supply acquired the Chore-Time Brand and opened a second location in Nacogdoches.
The future of Borders Poultry Supply as a family-owned business is bright! Fred and Linda’s daughter, Kim Borders Payne, after attending Stephen F. Austin State University and receiving her MBA in 2001, joined the family business in 2000. Kim serves in a variety of administrative roles. Kim’s husband Rob Payne joined the company in 2008 and serves in the management structure of the company.
Borders Poultry Supply has established longstanding relationships with growers throughout the Nacogdoches Area and hopes to continue to work with the growers and support the community. “We build strong customer relationships and that keeps them coming back!” according to Rob Payne.
The company employees a total of 20 people at the two locations. Many of them are long-term employees with many years of service.
The organization as a whole is proud of the many community organizations it supports including youth in agriculture, school groups, community groups, events and other organizations.
