NACOGDOCHES – Westminster Presbyterian Church contributes to mission projects in Nacogdoches and throughout the world, giving time and money to multiple projects. This week, members are helping to address needs facing their neighbors in Nacogdoches. A three-day schedule of service includes work with the American Red Cross, Nacogdoches HOPE, and Love INC of Nacogdoches. Fellowship activities are also on the schedule, including a pool party following Saturday service work.
Westminster welcomes all volunteers and will kick off the three-day project with a free breakfast at 8:30 am on Thursday, June 20 in Westminster Hall. Projects offered require a variety of labor and skill levels and organizers are accommodating for volunteers of all ages and abilities.
“There is something everyone can help with and we’re encouraging all hands in,” said Terri Moehring, Westminster elder and co-chair of the mission committee.
Westminster is partnering with the Nacogdoches Fire Department and the American Red Cross’ "Sound the Alarm" program on Thursday, June 20 and Saturday, June 22. Smoke detectors will be installed free of charge to Nacogdoches residents, regardless of financial need. If you live in Nacogdoches and are in need of smoke detectors, please call the church office 936-564-0203 and leave your name and phone number. A volunteer will call to schedule the installation.
Love INC will benefit from volunteers helping to organize their warehouse and Nacogdoches HOPE has construction plans for a new shade structure.
