Nacogdoches County and City issue declarations of local state of disaster due to Hurricane Laura
Posted 08/26/2020

Nacogdoches County and the City of Nacogdoches have issued Declarations of Local State of Disaster on behalf of their respective entities in anticipation of Hurricane Laura, a tropical cyclone likely to cause widespread and severe damage to the area.

The declarations activate the emergency management plan and enable government entities within Nacogdoches to access state and federal resources and seek possible reimbursement for related expenses.

The declarations go into effect immediately.

Please direct questions or media requests to me, Jessica Sowell (City of Nacogdoches), or Brett Ayres (Nacogdoches Police Department). Any of us will be happy to help as spokespersons for the joint command.

Stay safe,
