Fellow Texans, We remain diligent in our efforts to provide you with vital updates on the state's reopening process and recovery resources. Yesterday, Governor Greg Abbott issued an Executive Order to open bars and similar establishments at up to 50% capacity in conjunction with county officials. In hospital regions with low COVID-19 hospitalizations, County Judges will be able to opt their county into opening bars beginning October 14, 2020, provided they assist in enforcing health protocols. The Governor's Executive Order also increases the occupancy levels for all business establishments other than bars to 75%. Read the full press release here.
As the Governor stated, Texans have shown that we can contain the spread of COVID-19. It is vital that each and every Texan remains diligent in following health and safety protocols, including staying home if you are sick or at risk, sanitizing your hands, social distancing, and wearing face coverings or masks. All of us working together can continue to stop the spread of COVID-19, protecting both our lives and our livelihoods. A summary of business openings, details on minimum standard health protocols laid out by the Texas Department of State Health Services, and additional guidelines for the changes effective October 14, 2020, are being updated on the Open Texas website. The Governor's Economic Development & Tourism office remains focused on assisting our state's businesses through these times. Details on recovery resources for Texas businesses can be found on the COVID-19 resources webpage. Also, be sure to connect with us on social media for the latest updates. Thank you to all our state's residents, businesses and communities for focusing on keeping our state safe while also getting back to business. We are proud to work alongside you in this effort.
