“Our Nacogdoches chamber of commerce has a long history of supporting education and training programs in our County, and the public school systems are the bulk of workforce educators in our area,” said Chairman Dr. Ryan Head. “After discussions, our Executive Committee and board members agreed that as currently presented, the state’s voucher program will not improve our rural communities’ ISDs, and has the potential to negatively affect our future workforce.”
The chamber’s key legislative priorities are also updated to reflect the position statement in the Education / Workforce Development section.
“We hope this sends a clear message that as a representative of our local business community, the chamber supports our educators and those who are creating our future workforce,” Head said.
