CBTx Named Large Business of the Year

With twenty-two locations, three of which are in Nacogdoches, including the historic corporate headquarters located on the beautiful downtown square, Commercial Bank of Texas is powerhouse employer in the community with a brand recognized across Texas.

Legendary CBTx president, Thomas W. Baker once remarked, "The bank will prosper, only as the community prospers." Mr. Baker’s comment was made early in the bank’s history, but it holds true today and remains one of the guiding philosophies of CBTx. Focusing on the growth of the Nacogdoches community, and other communities we have become involved in has helped shape Banking Texas Style, the unique brand of customer service and community engagement that we provide every day. Guided by our mission to be intensely focused on customer satisfaction, personnel development, community service, and shareholder value, CBTx continues to pursue our vision of being the premier community-focused financial services organization… Right products, right people, right reasons.

Over the past 124 years, CBTx has helped our community overcome countless challenges, from two world wars to the Great Depression, the Savings & Loans crisis, the 2008 mortgage bubble, and even more recent challenges like Covid, Paycheck Protection Program loans (PPP), and inflation. Through each of these events, CBTx has stood firm as a cornerstone of the community, helping our neighbors weather life’s storms.

For the past 103 years, CBTx has been proud to partner with the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce. Working together for the past century has helped build and grow the wonderful Nacogdoches community that we call home.

CBTx was proud to spend over half a million dollars on community sponsorships in 2024, and we are on pace to eclipse that number in 2025. We know those dollars are a good investment in the community, and continue to see the community prosper as a result of our investment. Additionally, CBTx donated over 5,600 hours of our people’s time in service to community organizations last year. The estimated economic impact of those hours is an additional quarter of a million in community investment, for a total impact to the community of nearly one million dollars annually.

It is an honor and privilege to serve the Nacogdoches community, and we look forward to many more years of prosperity together. Receiving the Large Business of the Year award is a great honor, and we believe it speaks just as much to our community investment as it does to our business operations. We would like to thank every community member who has helped make this possible, and we would like to thank Nacogdoches for Banking Texas Style.
